We get a lot of questions at The Cattery Cat Shelter, most of which center around how our cage-free cats get along so well. The answer: slow introductions to anything, from other cats to cat toys.

A snowshoe cat is a breed of cat known for its blue eyes and white/brown fur. They also have very distinctive markings on their paws, namely boots and mittens that are white in color. They are thought to be a Siamese x American short hair hybrid, which is the origin of their distinctive blue eyes.

On Thursday, April 18th by 9am, we will post a new fundraiser to aid The Cattery Cat Shelter. With every donation made to the fundraiser, a staff member will draw a portrait of your pet. All you have to do is comment on your donation in the Facebook Fundraiser with a photo of your pet, in the fundraiser.  We will then reply with a drawn portrait!

Please note: we are not all artists here, so your pets will be drawn with a range of skills. However, we can guarantee your portrait will be fun and funny, but probably not be museum worthy! 

National Cat Lady Day is approaching, and it's the purrfect time to celebrate the cat lady in your life with our range of stickers and stationary. Not to mention, our cosy blankets!

How do you become a cat lady, you ask? By simply owning a cat, of course! The amount of cats owned doesn't matter, and feeding your local stray counts too.

Kitten season is upon us; while this is a stressful time to be a shelter, no one can deny that the kittens boost the serotonin levels, and make for some heckin' cute videos too!  Want to help us out for kitten season? All funds collected will go towards caring for the influx of kittens (and cuteness) and helping these babies find their furever home. 

If you're thinking about adopting one of our cats here at The Cattery Cat Shelter, we're going to need a bit of information from you. 

So we can get you through the adoption process as quick as possible, we've created an email template that you can copy/paste into an email and fill in with the relevant details. All adoption query emails should be sent to ​[email protected].

This is to help cut down on the amount of emails going back and forth between the Cattery and yourself, and getting those appointments locked into place ASAP! It also acts as a guide for those who aren't sure what to email us the first time.

One of the reasons The Cattery Cat Shelter is so successful is our ability to introduce cats to one another in a seamless manner. Not only does this ensure the cats stay stress-free, but also means that we can give them free rein around the shelter rooms.

We have a lot of new faces here on our blog, so we wanted to give you a rundown on one of our most popular cats: Dapper Dan. 

Dapper Dan is a disabled cat who lives permanently at the shelter, here in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dan has a spinal injury, which has caused ongoing issues such as: 

• incontinence
• being unable to use his back legs
• megacolon
• and being completely adorable
