How To: Send an Adoption Email

If you're thinking about adopting one of our cats here at The Cattery Cat Shelter, we're going to need a bit of information from you. 

So we can get you through the adoption process as quick as possible, we've created an email template that you can copy/paste into an email and fill in with the relevant details. All adoption query emails should be sent to ​[email protected].

Why make a template?

This is to help cut down on the amount of emails going back and forth between the Cattery and yourself, and getting those appointments locked into place ASAP! It also acts as a guide for those who aren't sure what to email us the first time.

The below template should be edited to suit your needs, or you can leave any unneeded parts blank. 

Full name:
Best contact number: 

Cat Name: Here you can put the name of the cat you're interested in adoption. Not sure who you want? Then browse our available cats before emailing, or use the below option to describe your preferences.

Cat Type: This can be anything from the breed you're looking for, to a personality. E.g. a long-haired cat with a lap cat personality, age preference 2-4 years, indoor cat only.

What happens next?

One of our volunteers will get back to you ASAP to talk about your eligibility and availability for meeting the cat in question. This will include any cat recommendations if you've asked for them.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

If you're unable to arrange an appointment, you can also visit us at Petsmart for adoptions on Saturday and Sunday. These take place from 10:30am-3:30pm with no appointment necessary.

Will you reply if we don't use the template?

Of course! This email template is completely optional and designed to make your life easier, rather than be mandatory.

Do we have to have an adoption photo afterwards?

Not at all! If you're camera shy, just let us know, and we'll make sure to skip the adoption photo process.
