The Cattery Chronicles: Issue 1 - Pet Hair Removal, St. Patrick's Day and More.

Welcome to The Cattery Chronicles. To kick off the blog of the week, we'll be looking at the questions you've sent into us, as well as having a look at the adoptions from the week before. 

On the left you'll see our purrfect kitty, Angel and her new owner, adopted here at The Cattery Cat Shelter the week ending 03/03/24. We had 13 cats adopted, and you can see all of them in our previous blog.

"Any tips to reduce cat hair on furniture? Other than lint rollers." - Submitted 02/27/24
This is a great question! We know fur everywhere is a big problem for any pet owner, but especially cats when they're shedding their winter coat. That's why we've put together a list of tools that's a must-have for any pet owner! 

1. The lint & pet hair remover by Elemsy is a life-changing addition to the home, especially if you've got a long furred cat. Great for using on fabric upholstered furniture, carpet and more, it's a great way to scrape fur free from fibers around the home. Plus, there's no need to buy any refills for this!

​2.  Another refill free option is the Delomo pet hair remover. It can be used on furniture and clothes alike, and catches the fur in a container for you to empty regularly. 
3. If you think prevention is the best medicine for fur-free furniture, check out the KCT pet care grooming kit. The textured glove will pick up your cat's shedding fur as you pet them, for you to dispose of before Fluffy or Mittens gets on the sofa.

St. Patrick's Day

Why do cats need breakaway collars?

When getting your cat a collar, it's important to make sure there's a breakaway clasp for their safety.

This means, if your cat tries to get through a small space and the collar gets caught, the collar will break away from its position around your cat's neck. This will allow the cat to return to you uninjured; collars without a breakaway clasp present a choking/strangling hazard.
