We found Chester abandoned at our shelter. His chin was degloved, he was thin, covered in fleas and just needed a lot of help. After 3 surgeries and almost dying from infection, his chin was as fixed as it's going to be. It still droops a little, but is so much better. He was also diagnosed with Stomatitis and over time has had all of his teeth removed. He's Princess Cecily's best friend. Because of that, and his ongoing medical issues, he's a permanent resident of the shelter. As you can see in the video, he's a super sweet dude. He will put cats in their place though, if they break the rules!
Glen Coco, Felicity, Neo, Rufio, Truffle, Angie, Molly, Cleo, Garth, Twinkle, Rock, Biscuit, Juniper, Allie, Pebbles, Clover, Nutmeg, Cece and Chamoy all found their new families last week! (click to expand pictures)
We're excited to announce that our stationary clinic is up and running. With grants we were able to purchase the equipment and supplies we were missing. For now we will alternate between using the mobile clinic and the stationary clinic. As soon as we are able to add a second staff, both will be open at the same time.
Templeton was found by Cajun George (if you know, you know) over 3 years ago as a stray. George brought him to us on the bus because his car wasn't running. He is FIV+ and at the time our small allotted space at the shelter for positive kitties was occupied. We had a vacancy at our Thrift Shop, so we tried him out there. Not all kitties can handle the store, but Templeton was a pro, right away. Up until Templeton, the store cats could be adopted. The love everyone had (has) for Templeton, staff and customers, changed that and he is a permanent resident. He greets customers, helps with checkout, approves the outfits of the day, gives hugs and head boops and in general, just makes everyone happy. He's been know to get into mischief - climbing into the ceiling, breaking lamps, runing out and visiting other stores - it just adds to his charm. During the pandemic, he came to the new shelter and became a lobby cat. Shelter staff also fell in love with him and couldn't let him go permanently back to the store. We now share custody. Templeton goes to work Tuesday - Saturday and has his days off at the shelter.
