It finally happened. After almost 15 years and 9000 cats we finally had our unicorn! The male torti. For those of you that don't know, Torties and Calicos, (and every variation - dilute torties/calicos, torti and white, torbies, etc) because of genetics, are almost always female. If they are male, it's because they have an extra chromosome. Depending what study you look at, 1 in 3000 torties/calicos is male. Our Shrimp is a torti and white, so staff didn't even look in the private area - it was just assumed he was a she. When he went to our spay/neuter clinic, the extra male bits were discovered! We are cat nerds, so this is very exciting to us. And what's more exciting? Katie, our Social Media Director, adopted him! So he's in the extended family!
