Back in February, Dapper Dan was left in our parking lot in a box. He was covered in urine and feces, was missing a lot of fur and seemed to be paralyzed. We took him to Oso Creek and he had several pressure sores, urine scalding and was indeed, paralyzed. He is also incontinent. But, if you've been following his story, you know he is also so, so sweet. He healed quickly, but after an xray showed a spinal injury, we know he will never walk again. We recently had a scare because he had stopped pooping and was diagnosed with megacolon. We now help him use the potty every day and give him more medication so that doesn't happy again. Along with his diaper, shorts and bow tie, we put on what we call his sled every day after his bath so he can scoot around the lobby without getting sores on his legs. He makes the rounds every day to visit the employees in the lobby area, checks to make sure we didn't accidently leave a food bowl down in his reach (he has to eat special food, so the food for the other lobby cats is put high so he can't reach it), and then finds a comfortable place to nap. Recently he's been able to get into this Christmas tree bed on his own and he is so very proud of this accomplishment. He's almost to the point he can also get out on his own. We think he can do anything he puts his mind to.

He is so lucky to have you taking care of him. He looks completely comfortable in that padded tree for napping. I can definitely see anyone who meets him falling in love with him.

I love that everything you've done for Dapper Dan (including his name) and what he's been able to accomplish. He is a sweet boy that brings a smile to my face.

Whoever left him in the parking lot couldn't take care of him but trusted you to be the best chance they could give him.
