Most people, unless you are in the sheltering world or know someone that is, don't understand the cat and dog overpopulation problem that is rampant in many parts of the United States.  Especially in the South.  Especially in South Texas.  That means space in shelters is limited and most shelters stay at capacity.  If you find a cat or dog, be prepared to take care of that animal until you find him/her a home, in case placement in an animal shelter isn't available.  
Also, don't be mean to us!  :-)  We're doing the best we can to solve a problem that we didn't create!

What is Kitten Season?  Those that are in the 'industry' don't always understand what it is, when it is and the impact it makes.
There can be multiple Kitten Seasons each year, but the main one is in the Spring and it has to do with the Birds and the Bees.  All the animals are mating and new babies are born in the spring.  That means an influx of kittens into shelters in late Spring, early Summer.  An overwhelming influx.
