Mange just looks so terrible and painful, but so easy to treat! This kitty was found at a local Marina. He's super sweet, but looks so uncomfortable. A Good Samaritan reached out and asked if we could take him. We did, and named him Sailor (get it?)!! Even on day 1 after we gave him a good bath and treated him with meds, he was a purring and biscuit making machine! Look at the progress he's made after only 6 days at the shelter! His nose is already growing back fur and he can already see so much better. He still has a lot of healing to do, but we think it will go quickly. For those of you that aren't familiar with mange, it's another name for a mite infestation. There are different kinds of mites, but they burrow under the skin, causing itchiness and hair loss. You might see scaling around face, eyelids and neck, like you see on Sailor. There can also be skin discoloration. Depending on the type of mite, it can be contagious. If you come across a kitty with mange, your Veterinarian can easily help you determine the best course of treatment to get the kitty on their way back to a non itchy existence! We can't wait to show you what Sailor looks like when he's completely healed!
