🐾 Senior Cats Are the Best Roommates (And Here’s Why) WHen most people think about adopting a cat, they picture a wide-eyed kitten bouncing around the house like a fuzzy pinball. Kittens are adorable, sure—but there’s a special kind of magic that comes with adopting a senior cat. The slow-blinking, purring, nap-on-your-lap kind of magic. Here’s why we think senior cats make the best roommates—and why you might just fall in love with one, too. 💤 1. They’re Chill Roomies Senior cats aren’t here to party all night. They’re past the stage of climbing your curtains or knocking everything off your shelves at 3 AM. Most just want a comfy spot, some pets, and a predictable routine. If your ideal roommate doesn’t throw wild parties and prefers quiet evenings, a senior cat is your soul mate. 🧠 2. What You See Is What You Get Senior cats have fully developed personalities, so there are no surprises. If a cat is a lap-lover or a sunbeam-snoozer, you’ll know right away. No need to guess how they’ll behave as they “grow up”—they’ve already grown into the best versions of themselves. 🧶 3. They Appreciate the Simple Things Senior cats might not have the wild energy of kittens, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need care and attention. They just enjoy life’s quieter pleasures—like soft blankets, cozy hiding spots, and your calm companionship. While some may need extra help with mobility or medical care, they often settle easily into routines and thrive with a gentle touch and a little patience. 🛒 Our Amazon picks for Senior Cats:
💗 4. They’re So Grateful There’s something extra special about the way a senior cat looks at you when they know they’re safe and loved. Many come from homes where they lost their human, or they’ve been overlooked at the shelter for too long. When you adopt a senior cat, they know. And they thank you with every purr. 🐱 5. They Still Have So Much Love to Give A cat is considered a “senior” around age 7—but many live well into their late teens and early 20s with proper care. That’s plenty of time for cuddles, companionship, and life-changing friendship. And the best part? You get to be their hero. Their soft place to land. Their happily-ever-after. 🐾 Meet Our Seniors We have some amazing older cats at the shelter right now, including: ![]()

Congratulations to Abu, Alladin, Ahsoka, Cinnamon Roll, Dolly, Lemon Meringue, Pops, Lucky Charms, Sparrow, Sweet Tea, and (not pictured) Big T, Crybaby, and Scrooge!! ![]() 😼 Why Do Cats Knock Stuff Off Tables? (Besides Pure Spite) You’re minding your own business. Maybe sipping coffee. Maybe trying to write a heartfelt email. Then--clink. Your pen is on the floor. You lock eyes with your cat. They blink slowly, like they’ve never known shame. And then, with the full confidence of a 12-pound house tiger, they shove your phone off the desk. Why do they do this? What ancient feline grudge are they settling? Let’s get into it. 1. Because Gravity Is a Toy To your cat, everything on your shelf is a physics experiment. Is this object: Pushable? Breakable? Loud when it lands? Congratulations, your cat is conducting science. Not for you, obviously. For their own personal amusement. 2. They Want Your Attention (And They Know How to Get It) Cats are nothing if not efficient. Why meow when they can yeet your water glass onto your laptop? Works every time. You stop what you’re doing, give them your undivided attention, and probably say their name in a tone that sounds suspiciously like admiration. They win. 3. Because That’s What a Mighty Hunter Does In the wild, cats bat prey around to see if it’s still alive. Your chapstick? Probably not a threat. But they’re still gonna give it a few exploratory whacks just to be safe. You know, for your protection. You’re welcome. 4. They’re Bored (and You’ve Left Things Conveniently Perchable) A bored cat is a chaotic cat. You went and left a tidy row of books on the edge of your shelf? Rookie mistake. That’s basically an enrichment toy. Knocking things over is a form of play… for them. For you, it’s an exercise in patience and replacement costs. 5. Because They Can Let’s be honest: some cats are just jerks. Lovable, adorable, velvet-pawed jerks. If they had thumbs, the emotional damage would be much worse. How to Stop the Madness (LOL You Can’t) Okay, fine, you can try: Keep surfaces clear (as if). ✅Give them puzzle toys and climbing shelves. ✅Train them with positive reinforcement (and a deep, deep well of patience). ✅Or just accept that your cat is the landlord now, and you’re just renting. In conclusion: Your cat is a tiny chaos machine wrapped in fur, and you love them for it. Probably. Even when they treat your nightstand like a demolition derby. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have to go pick up everything we own off the floor. Week Ending 5/18/2025 ~ 20 Adoptions this week!20 kitties off to start their happily ever afters! Congratulations to Barbosa, Calypso, Chalk, Charmander, Honey Butter, Kaipo, Kalama & Kelea, Kalina, Marble, Mew, Nora, Rascal, Slate, Sully, Swann, Thyme, Winston, Yoda and (not pictured), Nolan! 🐾 Is Your Cat a Chaos Goblin or a Peaceful Potato?
![]() You know you’ve got one of these angels if: ✅They spend 80% of the day loafed into an unidentifiable shape. ✅You’ve caught yourself checking if they’re breathing… because they haven’t moved in hours. ✅Their biggest daily decision is which sunbeam to nap in. ✅They blink at you from across the room like a monk in silent meditation. Peaceful Potatoes are gentle, calm, and often deeply judgy. They don’t destroy your plants—they just lounge beside them and silently shame your décor choices. Their ideal day is soft beds, chin scritches, and passive birdwatching.
Potato-Approved Comforts: 🛏 Heated cat beds – because luxury is a lifestyle. ☀️ Window perches – for birdwatching without the bother. 📺 Cat TV – YouTube has entire channels for this. Trust me, your potato will be enthralled. 🎣 Slow-play wand toys – if and when they feel like moving a paw. 🧡 Bonus tip: Potatoes may not seem like they need much, but light mental stimulation (like food puzzles or treat games) helps prevent boredom and weight gain. 🌀 What if Your Cat Is a Chaotic Potato? Ah yes… the elusive hybrid. These cats loaf all day, then suddenly leap six feet vertically because… a dust particle moved. They keep you guessing. They do zoomies at night and snuggle like buttered biscuits by day. They are adorable agents of chaos. For the Hybrid Kitty: Mix and rotate their options. Think: ✳️ One cozy window nook + one feather-on-a-stick playtime per day. ✳️Chill days and scheduled zoomies. ✳️Hide-and-seek treats in the morning, couch cuddles by night. ✨ If your cat is a little of both, you’re not alone. That’s the magic of cats—they contain multitudes. 🐱 It’s Not About Labels, It’s About Understanding Knowing your cat’s personality helps you meet their needs and strengthen your bond. Plus, it gives you something to laugh about when they body slam a dust bunny or turn into a warm loaf of judgment. Whether you live with a goblin, a potato, or a deeply confusing combination of the two… They all deserve fun, comfort, and love (and okay, maybe a treat or toy or three). 15 lives changed, 15 hearts full, and 15 happy new beginnings! ❤️😻🎉💐 Congratulations to Aloha, Black Pearl, Eden, Evie, Han Solo, Heathers, Keani, Leia, Mele, Nick, Patty Melt, Schmidt, Sweet Tea, Trixie, and (not pictured) Chicken Biscuit!! ![]() 🐾 Paws & Planets: Your Cat's May 2025 Horoscope Ever wondered what the stars have in store for your feline friend?
